Kamloops RCMP officer to take Thompson River plunge after hitting Special Olympics fundraising goal
(UPDATE: March 5 @ 11:40 am) - The community held up its end of the bargain, which means Sgt. Brandon Buliziuk will be holding up his end this weekend.
The Kamloops RCMP officer will take the plunge into the Thompson River on Sunday after surpassing his $2,000 fundraising goal for Special Olympics BC.
At last check, more than $2,600 has been raised for the important cause.
He ll be braving the cold waters of the river at 2 pm on Sunday, but the RCMP is reminding the public that it s not safe for anyone to just take a dip in the Thompson right now.
This year’s Virtual Polar Plunge will raise funds and awareness to support life-changing programs for people with intellectual disabilities. After the event, photos and video of Buliziuk’s feat will be posted online. “The Polar Plunge for Special Olympics BC is an absolute blast and we can’t wait to see participants from across British Columbia show their courage and creativity in this year’s virtual event,” Special Olympics BC President and CEO Dan Howe said. “Taking the plunge is always an exhilarating experience and it is wonderful to see so many people having such a great time while supporting Special Olympics athletes.”
