Communities secretary to decide on whether to give scheme green light
A £150m plan to redevelop Leeds Bradford Airport has been delayed to give Robert Jenrick more time to decide to give it the green light or not
The plans, which include the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of a new terminal, were approved by Leeds City Council in February.
The plans were drawn up last year
But objections about the scheme’s contribution to climate change meant the decision was referred to the government.
The communities secretary has now said he needs more time for “proper consideration” of the requests for the plan to be called in.

Todd Architects’ plans for a new terminal building at Leeds Bradford airport hang in the balance after the government delayed a decision on whether to allow the airport’s expansion
Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick issued an Article 31 holding direction to give himself more time to consider whether to call in the proposals for the West Yorkshire airport.

The decision comes as a further blow to AJ100 practice Todd Architects following the rejection last year of its expansion proposal for Bristol Airport over climate change concerns.

Ossian Holdings, the company behind One Grosvenor Gate on Grosvenor Road, said it will bring 100 jobs during construction and when complete, will have room for over 2,500 workers.

But due to its large floor areas, the 226,800 sq ft office will be able to accommodate more open-plan space and collaborative areas. It will also contain rooftop terraces, cycling facilities and showers.
