Katelyn is inspired towards service by her parents, who taught her to give back by demonstrating lives of service.
“My parents took me everywhere they went,” she says, laughing. That was often to Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where she has grown up serving others through community service. “When you do community service, you get to meet all kinds of different people and hear their ideas and perspectives,” she explains. “I really like learning about how people see things.”
This intrigue has led her to enroll in classes at Tallahassee Community College, studying psychology as she plans to attend a HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) pursue it as a major. “Learning about people’s perspectives helps us understand each other and get along.”
