A NEW and unique music venue is gearing up to open its doors next month. The Leader previously reported that Heart Rock Live, located in Eagles Meadow shopping centre, will open its doors for its first gig on August 20 - featuring the Guns N Roses Experience. From then on, some of the UK s best tribute bands will take to the stage every weekend. Other acts set to play there include Bulsara and His Queenies, who have headlined world-renowned Official Freddie Mercury Birthday Party in Montreux, Switzerland, for four consecutive years, and Revival - voted best ABBA tribute seven years in a row.

Highgate High Street is the best its been for a decade , but some have pleaded with locals not to desert it post-pandemic.
Renowned for its independent shops, cafes and popular pubs, the High Street has survived a difficult year says Highgate Society chair Elspeth Clements. The shops that provide food and services have done ok during the lockdown, those who have delivered have done very well, and those who have not, have suffered, she said. In general the High Street is the best it s been for a decade.
But while Highgate councillor Liz Morris celebrated the increased footfall during Covid, she warned that valuable community assets could be lost if people desert the High Street as lockdown eases.

Fears for the UKâs high streets continue as the pandemic takes its toll on the economy.
In central Stratford more than 50 retail and hospitality outlets are currently empty or seeing a change of hands or use. Covid has conspired with other threats, such as online and out of town shopping, to bring the situation to a crisis point. More bad news came as the Herald went to press when the town heard it was not going to receive funding under the governmentâs High Street Task Force scheme, despite being fourth hardest hit local economy in the country.
