It seems that the actual donut shop has taken a hit in recent years. People are choosing healthier alternatives for breakfast, so changes have to be made. Just look at Dunkin.Yes Dunkin..Not Dunkin Donuts as it was for decades. Grab your coffee drink and maybe some egg whites, oh and by the way we still do have donuts.

Over the past year, local chefs have worked hard to put on a happy face when patrons ask them how they’re holding up or how their business is going, but there’s a whole lot of lip-biting behind those smiles. It’s been tough all over, and restaurant owners and workers have spent 2020 scrambling to save their livelihoods, serve their customers and protect their staff at the same time. Not to mention the mental health issues that many restaurant workers deal with, even during the best of times.

If you work in the hospitality industry or did before the one-two punch of Nashville s 2020 and are in need of a Christmas dinner, head to the Nashville Farmers Market between 2 and 4 p.m. on Thursday (Christmas Eve Day).
The folks from Tennessee Action for Hospitality the group of independent restaurant owners, workers, and chefs who have been advocating for the industry this year have organized donations of 400 free meals and pantry items, to be given away on a first come, first served basis. Meals are available to any restaurant, bar or hotel worker be they caterers, event planners or distributors. No proof of hardship is required.

So maybe the answer is to stick close to home and play tourist in your own hometown.
I took a recent overnighter to stay at the BentoLiving complex at 321 Hart Street in Chestnut Hill. Bento is a really unique property, aimed primarily at extended-stay guests or groups looking to stay together during an excursion to Music City, but I think it would be a great place for anybody looking to get away for a weekend. And by “everybody,” I’m even including your pup, because the $75 pet fee is cheaper than two nights of boarding at some pet hotels. Plus, the industrial vibe of the place means that the cement floors are less vulnerable to “accidents.”
