Jackson, often considered a contender to be the first Black woman on the Supreme Court, is among Biden’s 11 nominations that include three Black women for appeals court vacancies and the first Muslim American to serve on a District Court. The White House March 30 announced that President Joe Biden declared his intent to nominate Indian American attorney Rupa Ranga Puttagunta for Superior Court Judge for the District of Columbia. Puttagunta was joined by 10 individuals who were nominated by Biden to serve as Federal Circuit and District Court judges, including Pakistani American Zahid N. Quraishi, the release said.
