Hold elected officials accountable
White supremacy is on the rise throughout the country, including in New Hampshire. The Southern Poverty Law Center tracked six hate groups in New Hampshire in 2020. Here in the Upper Valley, the shooting of the Hanukkah menorah on the Dartmouth campus this past December intensified fear within the Jewish community. Most distressing, members of the New Hampshire House of Representatives have acted with impunity to fuel such hatred.
In December, Rep. Dawn Johnson posted a virulently anti-Semitic meme on her Facebook page. House Speaker Sherman Packard said no action was needed because Rep. Johnson has “apologized.” She has in fact not apologized, either for the content of the posting or for the harm it caused; she has apologized only for the source of the message, a neo-Nazi website.
Forum, March 2: Two voices for all Lebanon residents

Two voices for all Lebanon residents
A community is strongest when all residents are empowered to advocate for their needs within local government. To achieve this, elected officials must be willing to connect with community members who are in need, understand and empathize with them, and use their position of power to be their champion in government. This is not easy work. It requires time, effort, care and compassion.
This is why I strongly support Devin Wilkie (Ward 2) and Sylvia Puglisi (at-large) for Lebanon City Council on March 9. Both these candidates have demonstrated that they will put in the work to be the people’s advocate in Lebanon city government.
