State Rep. Amy Grant visits Winfield's St. John the Baptist Catholic School

Updated 4/20/2021 7:09 PM On April 19, state Rep. Amy Grant visited St. John the Baptist Catholic School. She toured the Winfield school, met students and teachers, and spent some time in the seventh-grade social studies classroom where students were learning about state government and the Illinois constitution. After answering several questions about her role as an elected official, she invited the students to visit her in Springfield for a personal experience. After the tour, Grant met with the Rev. Christopher Lankford, Principal Joanne Policht, a parent, and a representative from the Diocese of Joliet Catholic Schools Office. The representative of the 42nd district was invited to see the impact of the Invest in Kids Act Tax Credit Scholarship (TCS) program and discuss how it can expand education options for families most in need of financial assistance. Since the inception of the program in 2018, 52 tax credit scholarships have been awarded to students at St. John the Baptist C

The students first were only on campus for two hours at a time. Soon, they transitioned into mornings in person and digital learning in the afternoon. See More Than 200 New Colorado COVID-19 Outbreaks December 2020

For the fifth consecutive week, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has added more than 200 new entries to its list of outbreaks related to COVID-19, and an increasing number have tallied death tolls higher than since the early days of the pandemic. An extreme example is Windsor Healthcare, a skilled-nursing facility in Weld County. The CDPHE has confirmed sixty positive staff cases, 85 positive resident cases and seven resident deaths. The CDPHE considers an entity an outbreak after two or more COVID-19 cases among residents, staffers or other people connected to a specific location are confirmed within a fourteen-day period, or two or more cases of respiratory illness with an onset of symptoms within a fourteen-day period are paired with at least one additional COVID-19 diagnosis. The vast majority of businesses and facilities identified as outbreaks remain open while working with the department to monitor symptoms and prevent future infections.
