Ohio State to Host Big Ten Swimming Championships

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s swimming team will host the 2021 Big Ten Conference swimming championships at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion Tuesday through Saturday. The Buckeyes were runner-up last year in an event that finished just before the start of the pandemic. Michigan is the defending Big Ten champion. The McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion is host to a Big Ten championship for the eighth time. The 2007, 2010 and 2017 men’s championships were previously held in the facility as were the 2006, 2008, 2015 and 2018 women’s Big Ten championships. The spectacular venue has also hosted three NCAA championships: the 2008 and 2018 women’s championships and the 2010 men’s.

Divers Sweep 3-Meter Event at Big Tens

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – It simply could not have been a better outcome for the Ohio State men’s divers on the 3-meter springboard Friday night at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center at Purdue University. The Buckeyes swept all three of the top places plus got additional points from two other divers to add another 120 points to the men’s total for the Big Ten championships next week. These points are on top of the 105 points they scored Thursday night. Senior Joseph Canova won his first Big Ten championship by taking first with 435.35 points. Sophomore Lyle Yost took second with 425.80 points and senior Jacob Siler was third with 416.85 points.

Divers score 105 B1G championship team points on 1-meter

Share Championship Central – Diving COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s contingent of men’s divers opened competition at the 2021 Big Ten Conference men’s diving championships Thursday evening at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center on the campus of Purdue University. All of the Big Ten’s diving championships will be contested this week, as is the women’s swimming championships in Minneapolis, with the men’s swimming championships taking place March 2-6 at Ohio State’s McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Every one of the Buckeyes’ five divers scored points on the 1-meter event with NCAA A qualifying totals and four qualified for the eight-person finals competition with sophomore Lyle Yost finishing third with 388.35 points. This is Yost’s fourth podium finish in four competitions at the Big Ten championships. Last year as a freshman he won the Big Ten title on platform, placed second on the 1-meter and was third on the 3-meter.
