Plans for the proposed PennEast pipeline have repeatedly shifted since first announced in 2014, but certain facts have remained constant: the project has always been unnecessary, unwanted, and environmentally destructive.
PennEast Pipeline Company LLC initially proposed this ill-conceived project with the promise of bringing fracked gas from the Marcellus Shale to customers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. However, PennEast has ignored questions about whether there is any true public need for the pipeline. The originally proposed project lacked a clear benefit for customers in Pennsylvania, since the state already has an extensive network of natural gas pipelines and has been a major exporter of natural gas for years.
