City Breaks Ground on New Skatepark

City Breaks Ground on New Skatepark City officials, funders, and community members broke ground on the future skatepark in Jamestown Thursday. The poured concrete structure will be located between the Chadakoin River and Greater Jamestown Riverwalk at 117 Fairmount Avenue. Mayor Eddie Sundquist said not every community has been able to break ground on a project like this in a middle of a pandemic, “So the fact that we’re still working on behalf of our kids, our youth, here in the City of Jamestown to make sure we have a space where they can be the best they can be is so incredibly important.”

City Allocates CARES Act Funds To More Businesses | News, Sports, Jobs

An additional $157,000 in CARES Act funding has been allocated to more city businesses. The additional funding went to The Beer Snob; Big Pitts BBQ; The Biodome Project; Brindle Barn; Colecraft; Garden of Eden; It’s Your Day; Jamestown Awning and Party Tents; Jamestown Skate Products; John David Salon; and La Cucina Della Nonna. “Applications from businesses that received assistance were put through a review process and assigned points based on the type of business, economic injury, number of employees, status of operations and years in operation,” said Crystal Surdyk, city development director. “All businesses were required to provide proof of economic impact due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
