A person was killed and another hospitalized following a two-vehicle collision in  Springfield Saturday morning. Springfield Police Department and Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon responded to the accident at about 4 a.m. at South Fifth Street and Lawrence Avenue. One pickup truck and a car were involved in the accident, Lt. Jason Brands said. The identity of the person who died was not immediately available Saturday afternoon because next-of-kin had not yet been contacted, Allmon said in a news release. The person was pronounced dead at 4:53 a.m. and was driving the pickup truck during the accident. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday morning.
