Midwestern members of Congress urge Corps to put flood control first


U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.), along with U.S. Representatives Sam
Graves (Mo.) and Emanuel Cleaver II (Mo.), led a bipartisan, bicameral letter
urging the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to quickly and fully utilize
the tools and resources Congress provided in the Water Resources Development
Act (WRDA) of 2020 and the FY2020 Energy and Water appropriations bill to
reduce flood risk and improve flood protection along the Lower Missouri River.
In addition to Blunt, Graves, and
Cleaver, the letter is signed by congressional members from the Lower Missouri River

3 Democrats Get COVID-19 After Sheltering with Maskless GOP

Three Democratic Representatives from the House of Representatives have tested positive for COVID-19 after sheltering with GOP representatives during the Capitol riots last week.
Over 100 lawmakers were hiding from the violent mob storming the Capitol last week in enclosed rooms where several GOP members refused offered masks and insulted those who chose to wear them. Those who tested positive include Reps. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), Brad Schneider (D-Ill.), and Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-N.J.). GOP Reps. Jake LaTurner (Kan.) and Chuck Fleischmann (Tenn.), have also tested positive for COVID-19 since the attack, but both have said they were not in the same room as the others. ....

Watson Coleman, Jayapal and Schneider each received the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 that’s being distributed to members of Congress. Pfizer has said the vaccine is only about 52 percent effective after the first dose, and becomes 95 percent effective after the second dose is administered three weeks later.
Watson Coleman, a 75-year-old cancer survivor, said Monday that she had mild, “cold-like symptoms” but was en route to a local hospital for monoclonal antibody treatment at the advice of her doctor. ....
