Construction of the meeting house was dedicated in 1795 in honor of Lee, the Methodist missionary who had traveled into the then-sparsely populated backcountry by horseback from Virginia two years prior. As Lee preached at the log cabin of Nathaniel Whittier, to Whittier and other early settlers, Lee suggested they build a meeting house, which they did on the 5-acre “Bowdoin Lot” that had been set aside in the 1791 town plan/surv

Community Prayer Wall to be Installed Along Main Street at King Lane Written by Heidi C. Yeranossian As the world begins to emerge from the COVID pandemic, Jesse Lee Church is reaching out to Ridgefield and the surrounding community by creating a Prayer Wall that will be installed along Main Street at King Lane from May 16 – May 30. Anyone who wants to post their prayers on or in the Prayer Wall during these two weeks is welcome to. This prayer wall is for the whole community. The top half of the wall will be a giant chalkboard where people can publicly share their prayer requests. The base will be a faux stone wall with places to insert private prayers.  The Prayer Ministry at Jesse Lee will record and collect all prayer requests. Private prayers inserted in the wall will not be read by anyone but will remain folded and confidential.

Hanover man faces several criminal charges

By Mary Catherine Brooks The Register-Herald Dec 31, 2020 Dec 31, 2020 A Hanover man faces several criminal charges after fleeing from the Wyoming County Sheriff s Department early Thursday morning, according the the sheriff s department. Jessie Lee Church, 47, is charged with domestic battery, third offense DUI, fleeing while DUI, fleeing on foot, and driving revoked for DUI, according to Sheriff Brad Ellison. At 12:15 a.m., Sgt. Eric McKinney and Cpl. Todd Reilley responded to a domestic battery complaint in the North Spring area. According to the sheriff s department, when the officers arrived, Church fled on a 1982 Honda motorcycle. A brief pursuit ensued. Church s motorcycle became stuck in the muddy roadway, and he then fled on foot, Ellison said. The officers gave chase.
