Gay rights movement, also called homosexual rights movement or gay liberation movement, civil rights movement that advocates equal rights for gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender persons; seeks to eliminate sodomy laws barring homosexual acts between consenting adults; and calls for an end to discrimination against gay men, lesbians, and transgender persons in employment, credit, housing, public accommodations, and other areas of life. 19 Apr 2021Washington, DC House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy told Breitbart News exclusively that he will move to formally censure House Financial Services Committee chairwoman Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) over her call to violence in Minnesota this weekend. McCarthy’s move, which comes after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to hold Waters accountable, will force a censure vote in the House. Pelosi cannot stop McCarthy’s resolution censuring Waters from receiving a vote, because it is a privileged resolution. If Democrats lose just three of their members on this vote and all Republicans vote for it, then Waters will be formally censured by the House and likely lose her powerful position as chair of the Financial Services Committee. ....
HARWICH – Stephen Ford s career in politics took him all the way to the United States Senate. But it was when he ran for and was elected to the Board of Selectmen in 2019 that he returned to the political arena he truly loved. “He just loved Harwich,” his wife, Patsy, said. “He was glad to help give back when he became a selectman. He was sad he wasn’t going to be able to continue with it.” Ford, the board s vice chairman, died April 9 after a years-long bout with cancer. He was 68. Friends, colleagues and family members say Ford, a Harwich native, will be remembered as someone who never shied away from the hard work that often came with town government, as well as being a loving father, husband and grandfather. ....
What it would take for the GOP to dump Gaetz Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, to borrow a phrase from the late singer Tom Petty, is free fallin’. Gaetz, a loyal foot soldier for former President Donald Trump and a Fox News darling, is engulfed in a scandal. The Justice Department is investigating whether Gaetz engaged in a relationship with a 17-year-old girl, whether he was involved with other young women, and whether he broke federal sex trafficking and prostitution laws, according to people briefed on the matter. Investigators have also examined whether federal campaign money was involved in paying for travel and expenses for the women, one source said. Gaetz said “no part of the allegations against me are true.” He denied that he paid any woman for sex, insisting that the 17-year-old girl does not exist, and that he was the victim of an organized criminal extortion plot, which the FBI is investigating separately. ....
