OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - Oxford police now have a suspect in connection to a 2013 sexual assault.
According to the Oxford Police Department, the incident happened on Oct. 20, 2013, by an unknown individual.
A break in the case occurred in late-2020 when investigators learned of a possible DNA match.
This ultimately led investigators to Indiana where they worked with the Indiana Department of Corrections to acquire a new DNA sample.

SEYMOUR, Ind. – It was a bittersweet day when Jerry Owens, 74, of Seymour, was finally released from Schneck Medical Center last week after spending 67 days in the hospital. Owens and his wife Karen were admitted to Schneck suffering from COVID-19 back in early November. His wife did not survive the disease from which it took two-and-a-half months for him to recover.
Owens tearfully said, “It’s great to be getting out of here, but I’m going home without my wife.”
As he was wheeled from his room and out of Schneck Medical Center, the staff lined the hallways cheering him, exchanging high fives, and giving him presents. To view the celebration, click on the video here.

Q: Tell me about Jethro Tull. A: This helped get me into journalism. I never imagined myself in this profession when I was, for example, in high school. There was this big push back in the late 60s, early 70s, for science – I thought I would be a science person. I had to declare a major after a year and a half (at University of Illinois). I just picked a major without really knowing what it was, which was public relations. Once I got into a public relations course, there were things about it I didn t like. One of the courses I
