Rella Arlene Miller Nease Rella Arlene Miller Nease, 85, of Avis, passed away at her residence Wednesday morning April 28, 2021. She was born in Renovo April 13, 1936 a daughter of the late Benjamin E. and Rella P. Knickerbocker Dingman. She was married to Paul D. Miller for 30 years before he passed away in 1991. She was then married to Dennis Nease for eight years until his death in 2003. Early in her life she was employed in Philadelphia as a Bell telephone operator and then worked for more than 10 years for Brodart in Williamsport. She retired in 2009 from the Jersey Shore Hospital where she was employed for more than 35 years as a unit clerk and nurse aide.

Special to the Sun-Gazette LOCK HAVEN As Pennsylvania rolls out a multitude of vaccines in vast numbers statewide, Clinton County is ranked as one of the lowest counties in total vaccinated thus far. Clinton County is sitting at 14.92% of its population totally vaccinated. That’s about 5,831 out of 39,074 county residents vaccinated. When compared to surrounding counties, Clinton County is toward the bottom, along with Potter County with only 9.72% or 1,646 out of 16,967 people totally vaccinated. Other counties such as Cameron and Clearfield are sitting at the top of the list, with around 20% totally vaccinated by population, give or take. Clinton County Commissioner Miles Kessinger commented on the low percentage, saying Clinton County doesn’t have a go-to vaccine destination for the mass public, outside of UPMC’s efforts.

Apr 12, 2021 Margaret “Peggy” (Lake) Bierly, 88, of Jersey Shore, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. She was born on Oct. 21, 1932 in Lock Haven and moved to Jersey Shore as an infant and lived her whole life there. She was the daughter of the late Anthony “Tony” and Lania Lake. Peggy was married to the late Seth M. Bierly on June 12, 1955. She had worked for the Bell Telephone Company in Jersey Shore for 10 years, then transferred to Williamsport for another 10 years before raising her family. Later, she worked at the Jersey Shore Hospital as Supervisor of Switch Board, Admissions and Credit & Collections Manager. She then went to work in the offices of Dr. Wittoff and Dr. Miller.
