on the pavement of learning something.
As I see my shadow, I notice I have a small head. No wonder I can’t remember much and I have to work my butt off (may be I should use my brain) to comprehend anything. Meanwhile there are some (too few) mighty minds around.
For example, Dr Spence, AC BA LLB Sydney DPhil PGDipTheol Oxford, was appointed the 25th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sydney in 2008. His aims have been to maximise the University’s great strengths: depth and breadth of disciplines, a commitment to challenge ordinary thinking and a genuine desire to do good in the world all through excellence, engagement and simplification.

Bridget McKenzie might have lost her ministerial position, but the Coalition clearly filed away her spreadsheet ready for a rainy day (“Sydney fears being left high and dry in tourism cash splash”, March 12). Now we hear that $1.2 billion is being tossed to Qantas and Virgin on routes to 13 “international” tourist destinations, all but one being marginal and Coalition-held seats. This is the same government that could only manage an additional $25 per week for JobSeekers. They are without shame.

The NSW Coalition government is rorting its way into an ignominious decline just like the last Labor government (“Bushfire fund projects required minimum spend of $1m, Barilaro says”, February 9). Wouldn’t it be nice if we could have an honest government which has morality, just for a change? Is it too much to ask for a Premier and Deputy Premier who do not think it’s OK to use public money to buy votes? -

One couldnât ask for a better person for the Australian of the Year gong than well-deserving Grace Tame, the first Tasmanian to receive one (âChange the date, says Graceâ, January 26). She is not going to muck around. In the little time sheâs been in the public eye, Tame has already said what most of us feel â change the Australia Day date. I canât wait to hear her views in the days ahead. Congratulations, Grace.
