Syracuse Mets lose on bases-loaded walk in extra innings at Worcester

The Syracuse Mets and Worcester Red Sox played their first extra-inning game of the season with the Red Sox winning on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning, 2-1, on Friday night at Polar Park in Worcester, Massachusetts.
With the game tied, 1-1, in the top of the 10th inning, Syracuse had Quinn Brodey start the frame at second base because of the extra-inning rule implemented in the minor leagues beginning in 2018.
Drew Ferguson walked to lead off. Brodey then advanced to third base and Ferguson to second on a Cody Bohanek sacrifice bunt. The Red Sox intentionally walked Johneshwy Fargas to load the bases. But Martin Cervenka popped out, and Brandon Drury grounded out, ending the half inning.

Red Sox prospects Connor Seabold, Hudson Potts, Jeisson Rosario and Marcus Wilson all were optioned to the alternate training site.
Prospects Jeter Downs and Gilberto Jimenez, who are not yet on the 40-man roster, were among the eight minor leaguers reassigned to minor league camp. Baseball America ranked Downs the No. 2 prospect in the system entering 2021. It ranked Jimenez No. 7.
Rosario and Potts are the two players Boston acquired from San Diego for Mitch Moreland. Seabold is the pitching prospect Boston acquired with Nick Pivetta from the Phillies in the Brandon Workman trade.
