Christie Marks, of Kittanning, told troopers that she rented the room with funds from her stimulus check and stayed there with Doyle, her fiance, until he became paranoid and argumentative with her and she attempted to leave the room.
Doyle, 35, threw Marks into a table, punched her face and choked her before Marks used pepper spray on him.
According to a complaint, Doyle wiped the pepper spray from his face with his T-shirt and smeared the irritant on Marksâ face and eyes.

STEUBENVILLE A Franciscan friar under indictment for the alleged rape of a woman he counseled nearly a decade ago pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Ohio’s Jefferson County Common Pleas Court.
The Rev. David R. Morrier indicted April 7 on charges of rape and two counts of sexual battery of a student at Franciscan University of Steubenville made his initial appearance in front of Judge Joseph Bruzzeze.
Because he appeared voluntarily, Prosecutor Jane Hanlin said Morrier, 59, was entitled to be released on his own recognizance.
The indictment alleged Morrier, ordained into the Province of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Third Order Regular of St. Francis of Penance in 1997, used his position as the woman’s counselor to make her believe that engaging in sexual activity with him would help with her mental health issues.

While the long process of receiving justice for the thousands of Catholics who live in the Diocese of Steubenville moved another step closer to being resolved Monday, there are still questions that must be answered.
A big step in that direction happened Monday, when David Franklin, the former comptroller of the diocese, entered into a plea deal in Jefferson County Common Pleas Court.
The list of illegal activities committed by Franklin is long, and includes falsification, theft of funds and the defrauding of creditors. And for all of that, Jefferson County Common Pleas Judge Michelle Miller sentenced the 69-year-old Franklin to 18 months in state prison and ordered him to pay $532,115 in restitution. The first 366 days of his sentence will be spent in federal prison, time he received in July after admitting to embezzling nearly $300,000 during a nine-year period that started in 2008.
