United States and Pakistan host private sector engagement forum in South Punjab Islamabad, January 27, 2021 (PPI-OT): The United States Mission to Pakistan along with the Punjab Provincial Government opened a three-day private sector forum today to identify opportunities and challenges for commercial and social investments in the region. The forum was organized by the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Punjab Enabling Environment Project (PEEP) through the USAID Lahore Office in collaboration with the South Punjab private sector. The forum will be focused on four key sectors: agriculture, tourism, textiles, and energy. One of the main topics will be identifying the challenges for growth of the private sector in South Punjab, including market access constraints exacerbated by COVID-19 mobility limitations. One introduces an innovative method of evaluating the safety and effectiveness of medicine, and the other will increase the country’s ability to monitor the spread of infectious disease. In early December, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development, or USAID, unveiled their new platform for monitoring new medicines in the development and approval processes. The platform, called the Pakistan Integrated Regulatory Information Management System will help Pakistani companies easily apply for permission to produce a medicine, as well as bring safe and effective medicines to market more quickly at a much lower cost. ....
USAID to help in establishing 155 disease surveillance units Islamabad December 17, 2020 Islamabad: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will support the establishment of 155 District Disease Surveillance and Response Units (DDSRUs) across Pakistan. Chairing a ceremony held in this connection at the Ministry of National Health Services here Wednesday, the PM’s Special Adviser for Health Dr. Faisal Sultan said, expressed gratitude to USAID for the historic support, and hoped that the intervention will go a long way in instituting the integrated disease surveillance system in Pakistan and reducing mortality and morbidity associated with infectious diseases through timely prevention, detection and response. ....
USAID establishes 155 DDSRUs across Pakistan December 16, 2020 ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has established 155 District Disease Surveillance and Response Units (DDSRUs) all across Pakistan. In an Auspicious Ceremony held at the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination in Islamabad on Wednesday, the Prime Minister’s Special Advisor for Health Dr. Faisal Sultan expressed his gratitude to the USAID and acknowledged that this historic support of establishing 155 DDSRUs all across Pakistan will go a long way in instituting the integrated disease surveillance system in Pakistan and will reduce the mortality and morbidity associated with infectious diseases with timely prevention, detection and response. ....
