Courtesy of BRYMCA Y Arts rolls on It’s strange to think that just a year ago, Y Arts had returned from the Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta where they had spent the weekend in person with thousands of other children and theater professionals from around the world. It was a grand celebration of our children and their love of the arts. Our Y Arts youth performed live and the energy was uplifting to say the very least. We sang. We danced. We high-fived and hugged. We celebrated, together. ....

(Courtesy photo) On the Fringe grabs acting award SUISUN CITY On the Fringe Visual and Performing Arts theater company pulled off a threepeat last weekend when they won a Freddie G Excellence in Acting award at the 2021 Junior Theater Festival Online Extravaganza (JTF OE). Suisun City resident Maria Stats founded On the Fringe in 2015. Their mission statement, according to their website (http://www.onthefringevapa.org/), is to “bring culturally diverse, female-driven theater and arts education to children and adults in Solano County.” ....

The closing of Boothbay Green is disheartening but I do understand the reasons why, as explained by Dr. Allan Teel of the Eldercare Network in this week’s article. As he said, the upward trend in age in our state, and in our county in particular, will only increase the problem of finding housing and care for the elderly. I hope our state representatives are working hard on pushing this idea to their fellow representatives and Governor Janet Mills. Congratulations to the Y Arts group and its director, Emily Mirabile, for their performance of “Shrek Jr.” for the Junior Theater Festival and for winning another Ensemble award. The 25 youngsters impressed the judges, who viewed their routine virtually on Saturday. We are lucky to have such a dedicated arts and humanities director, who was trained well by her mother, the original Y Arts director, Ginny ....

Students from Haddonfield Plays and Players in Haddonfield won a national Freddie G Excellence in Acting award at the 2021 Junior Theater Festival Online Extravaganza! (JTF OE), which took plae from Jan. 15-17. Additionally, Haddonfield Plays and Players Abby Brown was cast to perform in a virtual sneak peek production of Jason Robert Brown s 13 JR., while students Ava Favieri and Emma Scherz were cast in Disney s The Descendants. ....
