When Sergeant Tan Wei Kang screened the man s particulars, the system showed he was wanted for failing to report for a urine test under the Central Narcotics Bureau.
Sgt Tan then discreetly lodged a report to request backup officers be sent to the police post.
But the man sensed something was amiss after noticing Sgt Tan using his phone, Deputy Public Prosecutor Phoebe Tan said.
His wife later said she needed to use the toilet and handed the baby to her husband as an officer escorted her to a restroom.
The man then said his baby needed some fresh air and walked out of the police post, with Senior Staff Sgt Mohamed Nasrudin Shahul Hameed and Sgt Tan tailing him.

SINGAPORE - The police on Tuesday (May 11) arrested a 30-year-old man alleged to have used a racial slur and kicked a woman on the chest last week.
The man was arrested for public nuisance, uttering words with intent to wound the racial feelings of others, and voluntarily causing hurt, following a report lodged about an incident on Choa Chu Kang Drive on Friday (May 7), said the police in a statement, adding that investigations are ongoing.

In a statement yesterday, the police said they arrested a 30-year-old Chinese man for public nuisance, uttering words with intent to wound the racial feelings of others and voluntarily causing hurt , following a report lodged about the incident in Choa Chu Kang Drive.
Investigations are ongoing. The police take a serious view of such acts that have the potential to damage racial harmony in Singapore. Any person who makes remarks or takes action that can cause ill will and hostility between the different races will be dealt with swiftly and in accordance with the law, they said.

DJ Tenashar was sentenced on Monday to 18 months jail after she was convicted of nine charges, including several drug-related ones.
Ten other charges, including for theft and harassment, were considered during sentencing.
This was not her first brush with the law. In 2019, the former FHM Singapore and Playboy Thailand cover girl, whose full name is Debbie Valerie Tenashar Long, was sentenced to 18 months jail for offences including drug consumption.
