It has been a carousel for tenth-ranked Syracuse Men’s Lacrosse this season, to say the least. Up and down, up and down, up and down the horses have gone.
The Orange started out hot at 4-1. But ever since the trip to Durham on March 25, SU has dropped four of its last six. One of those four losses came this past Saturday, with Syracuse falling and then some to Notre Dame 22-8. The Orange gave up ten goals in the second quarter, coughing up a 17-2 run that began in the second frame.
SU head coach John Desko says there’s a lot of work to do with the defense.

Robert Morris’ Ryan Smith has come a long way since being a 4-foot-10 high school freshman in Burlington, Ont.
Through nine games, Smith is the Division I co-leader in goals scored with 33, tied with another Ontario native in Delaware’s Mike Robinson.
Now a 6-foot-2, 220-pound graduate senior for Robert Morris, Smith not only grew 15 inches between now and then, but his role within the Colonials offense has also grown. Head coach Andrew McMinn originally recruited Smith as an off-ball finisher thanks to his box background, but Smith has exceeded all role expectations.
They proved all that right in a 14-12 win at No. 14 UAlbany. Very proud of these Cats for getting their first win at UAlbany, said coach Chris Feifs in a release. We know there is still much to improve from our performance today but happy with the grit we showed to dig in against a very talented UAlbany team. Liam Limoges and Ryan Cornell especially rose to the challenge and were outstanding today for us. Back to work on Monday for NJIT.
For Vermont, it showed some key things: First, Michael McCormack’s continued emergence as a threat. The Middlebury transfer stretches the field for Vermont, and he started the scoring in a back-and-forth opening section to the game. He continued with two goals and two assists.
Last week, after multiple overdose deaths in Hazard, officials with the Hazard Police Department announced they had begun working a large scale drug investigation along with the Drug Enforcement Agency and other law enforcement agencies. The investigation, said HPD, is ongoing, and some arrests are expected to be made in connection to the controlled substances.
âWe started getting notifications on Wednesday (March 3) afternoon of people that had overdosed, and a majority of them somebody was able to call and somebody was able to respond to it and administer Narcan,â said HPD Chief Minor Allen. âSeveral were transported to ARH.â
The overdoses, said Allen, continued into early morning on Thursday, March 4, when HPD received a call in Gorman Hollow claiming that there were three suspected overdoses in one apartment with a fourth individual needing medical assistance. Upon arrival, said HPD officials, three individuals were found to be dead and the fourth individual
