Crate Late Model racer Jeremy Holtzclaw of Sparta, Tn. lost his two year battle with cancer Tuesday morning, reports family on the his Facebook page.
The 41-year-old had recently completed at the United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA Bama Brawl in February and was leading the race coming to the checkered flag when he blew a tire on the back straightaway.
Holtzclaw competed for the UCRA Rookie of the Year $1,000 bonus in 2020 but came up short to Knoxville s Jason Cardwell.
The UCRA is a tight knit of race teams that help one another off the track, but yet are very competitive during the races.

UCRA Delivers 2020 Championship Accolades To Elliott, 2021 Dates Announced Sunday, January 24, 2021 - by Steve Hixson
Two time United Championship Racing Alliance champion Jimmy Elliott of Cleveland received his earnings and hardware Saturday a week after officials decided to call off the luncheon gathering normally held, due to COVID-19 concerns. Marvin Ford and announcer Chris Regan hand-delivered Elliott his $5,000 winnings to Cleveland, whilst maintaining safe social distancing standards.
Cardwell s Rookie of the Year earnings was delivered and the Knoxville racer will be picking it up later this week. Kenny Kizzar of Soddy Daisy picked up his earnings for finishing third in the National Points Standings. Kizzar is the longest standings racer with the UCRA, beginning with the 604/Crate Late Model competition series on its inaugural season in 2015. Kasey Hall of Alabama will be getting his fourth place earnings later this week.

The 30th Ice Bowl four day weekend concluded Sunday with feature races galore as close to 400 race teams converged upon Talladega Short Track across from the Super Speedway. Maryville racer Jason Welshan put his 604/Crate Late Model back in Victory Lane, like he did last June with the United Championship Racing Alliance. The #01 Hux Motorsports / Savage Racecar Bandit driver pocketed $3,000 for his efforts against 48 other entrants.
Ooltewah s Riley Hickman was 15th whilst defending and two time back to back race winner Jimmy Elliott of Cleveland finished 21st overall.

The United Championship Racing Alliance 604/Crate Late Model series $1,000 Rookie of the Year title chase was a chase within the Red Line Oil championship, as many as five racers held aspirations for the 2020 award, set to be distributed next Saturday, Jan. 16, in Chattanooga. Jason Cardwell of Knoxville bested the bunch and nearly collected himself a National Points Championship all the while, chasing Cleveland racer Jimmy Elliott. This is a good group of guys, said Cardwell regarding his fellow series competitors. We re all out to help one another race, but in the same stance, beat them to the finish line.
