Georgia St. heads to Sun Belt title game beating Louisiana

PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) Corey Allen scored 21 points and Eliel Nsoseme scored 17 and hot shooting Georgia State beat Louisiana 84-73 in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference tournament on Sunday.
The Panthers advance to Monday’s championship game to face the winner of Sunday night’s contest between Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina.
Ryan Boyce scored 13 points, Kane Williams 11 and Jalen Thomas 10 for Georgia State.
The Panthers (16-5) never trailed en route to a 52-35 halftime lead in which they shot 52.6% (20 for 38) including make 6 of 10 from 3-point range. Georgia State finished 28-for-62 shooting (45.2%) overall.

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Norchad Omier collected his second double-double in as many days, but it was not quite enough as Georgia State held off Arkansas State men’s basketball for a 71-68 win in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinals Saturday night at the Pensacola Bay Center.
Omier scored 16 points and collected 18 rebounds to lead the Red Wolves (11-13), who held a four-point lead with two minutes to go, but the East No. 1 seed Panthers (15-5) scored seven straight to close out the contest and advance to the tournament semifinals. The performance was the freshman’s 15

The Georgia State Panthers rallied off one of the most outstanding stretches in program history, even if they didn’t always know when they would play next. Following a 14-5 regular season, the team will play the Arkansas State Red Wolves in tomorrow’s quarterfinals.
It will be the first time the Panthers play since their 82-73 win over the South Alabama Jaguars last Saturday.
