Second gentleman Doug Emhoff will visit Topeka on Monday to tour a vaccination clinic, the White House confirmed Tuesday evening.
The time and place for the event have not yet been announced but Education Secretary Miguel Cardona will join with Emhoff to learn about outreach efforts to get the community vaccinated.
It will be the first time top figures in President Joe Biden s administration have visited Kansas since Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris took office in January. First Lady Jill Biden visited Kansas City, Mo. earlier this year for a similar vaccine event.
Emhoff has worked as an entertainment lawyer for decades and also has served as a visiting professor at the Georgetown University School of Law. He married Harris in 2014, three years before she ran for the U.S. Senate and gained a national platform that catapulted her into the position as Biden s running mate.
