When the little village of Edmonds incorporated as a fourth-class town in August of 1890, even though there had been some hard times, the residents must have been filled with hope that the final decade of the 19th century would bring prosperity, growth and some needed culture to their community.
Certainly, at 5 o’clock in the evening on June 17, 1891, when the Great Northern track-laying engine rounded Point Edwards and came into view, the residents of Edmonds must have realized they were going to have a long-anticipated railroad connection to the outside world. Surely, it would help lead the way to prosperity.

2020 marked the most violent year in New Haven since 2012, with 20 homicides. The city is on pace to surpass that total this year. So, officials are rolling out a number of initiatives to address the uptick.
The 11th homicide, in just four and a half months, occurred near the intersection of Orange and George Streets, right near the Yale-New Haven Health Saint Raphael campus on Tuesday morning. The male victim was shot multiple times and died on the scene.

Frankie’s will be demolished to make way for Sydney’s new Metro West line. The line will run from the CBD to Westmead.
The CBD entrances to the Metro West will be built on the corner of Hunter and George Streets, as well as Bligh and O’Connell. A second station will also be built in Pyrmont.
For the CBD build 11 properties will be acquired , including Frankie’s and land owned by The Star casino. However, a Sydney Metro spokesperson said all owners and tenants being acquired would be offered compensation.
