After OSU’s dual with Northern Colorado was canceled, the Cowboys went to the Air Force Academy to have a dual with the Falcons, and here’s how it went.
OSU got off to a bit of a slow start. At 125 Trevor Mastrogiovanni got the Pokes on the board with a 2-1 decision over Cody Phippen. Mastrogiovanni picked up the first takedown then gave up an escape to Phippen. Phippen and Mastrogiovanni then traded full period ride-outs to give Mastro the 2-1 decision.
At 133 Andrew Nieman, who is currently filling in for Daton Fix, dropped a 6-0 decision to Jared Van Vleet. Then came one of the more controversial bouts of the dual between Dusty Hone and Lenny Petersen. Hone was up 4-2 and gave up a 2-point takedown with just seconds left, but seemed to continue through and get another takedown of his own. After some review the two were given to Petersen along with a riding time point, and Petersen won 5-4.
