BOULDER CANYON, Colo. (CBS4)– They don’t call this Boulder Canyon for nothing. Keeping them on the mountains and off the road is the difficult part.
Colorado Highway 119 reopened in Boulder Canyon at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Large boulders the size of SUVs fell on the highway Tuesday evening. It was previously estimated that blasting the rocks to make them smaller and movable would take several days.

Major changes are coming soon to the often-clogged Harmony Road interchange with Interstate 25 and this fall to where Kechter Road crosses over I-25 as part of the ongoing, $750 million North I-25 Express Lanes project.
To combat aggravating and dangerous backups at the Harmony Road interchange, the Colorado Department of Transportation is adding more left-hand turn lanes to alleviate vehicles from having to wait on I-25 to access the off-ramp during busy traffic times.
The intersection has become increasingly congested as nearby retail, such as Walmart and Costco, has built up over the years and commuter traffic has increased.
Construction will start Monday and is expected to be completed by mid-May with mostly intermittent nighttime lane closures.
