The St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller received the Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Fiscal Year 2019 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.  “This prestigious award recognizes what we all know. St. Johns County maintains a high level of transparency and accessibility with its finances, primarily communicated in its annual financial report,” said Clerk of Courts and County Comptroller Brandon Patty in a news release.  This is the 28th consecutive year St. Johns County received the certificate of achievement by the national association. St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller launched its redesigned website March 9.  “My office is committed to providing world-class customer service, online and in-person,” Clerk of Courts and Comptroller Brandon Patty said in a news release. “The new website will save our residents time and resources in quickly finding the services and information they need.”  The clerk’s office worked with Ward Design Group in St. Augustine to publish the new website. “It was my team’s goal to make this site one of the best in the state,” said Brandon Ward, president of Ward Design Group, in the release.

St Johns County clerk says no new ties to officials in bribery case

St. Johns County s clerk of court said the office cut ties with a debt collection company a few years ago after learning of a bribery investigation involving the company and its owner. The statement came in response to a request for information from certain Florida clerks of court this month from Florida s Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis.  An indictment was filed in 2019 against Penn Credit Corporation and Donald Donagher Jr., who led the business during that time. The indictment says that Donagher and Penn Credit gave and offered to give gifts and services to several clerks of court, or people or groups affiliated with them, in an attempt to get favorable treatment for Penn Credit in the award, allocation and retention of debt collection work.

St Johns County s state representatives and senator will meet Friday

St. Johns County s Legislative Delegation for the Florida Legislature is scheduled to hear from dozens of speakers Friday on a wide range of topics, including mental health, infrastructure and schools.  The delegation ― made up of State Sen. Travis Hutson, delegation chair and State Rep. Cyndi Stevenson and State Rep. Paul Renner, all Republicans ― holds meetings to hear from locals about their priorities and to discuss upcoming legislative issues. The next regular session of the Florida Legislature begins on March 2. The Legislative Delegation meeting will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the St. Johns County auditorium at 500 San Sebastian View in St. Augustine. While the meeting is open to the public, seating will be limited because of COVID-19.
