Councillor Lisa Bradley gets an early start on National Tree Day on Sunday which will include a free community planting event in Passerine Park (entry via Dorset Park) at Rochedale South. Logan City Council will use National Tree Day this weekend to continue to grow the City of Logan’s award-winning green canopy. Council plants more than 80,000 trees and shrubs annually and will add to that impressive total with two free community planting events to mark National Tree Day on Sunday, August 1. National Tree Day is Australia’s largest community and nature care event. The theme this year is: “Be part of something big by doing something small”.

Healthy Street construction changes

Deputy Mayor Jon Raven on Loganlea Road Meadowbrook residents, traders and users of Loganlea Road will benefit from a change in work schedules on a major health and well-being project. The Loganlea Road Healthy Street project in Meadowbrook is designed to better connect Logan Hospital to nearby medical and retail precincts. The project involves significant upgrades to Loganlea Road to improve pedestrian and cyclist access, enhance amenity, and stimulate investment within the centre, encouraging health and wellness. Work, which began last month, has been conducted nightly from Monday to Saturday. However, to reduce impact on weekend trade, work will now be carried out from Sunday night to Friday morning.

Logan City Council today endorsed a five-year, $9 million project to create a new city plan. The new Planning Scheme will be a blueprint for a sustainable future and will help manage and guide unprecedented growth across the City of Logan. The project will be based on in-depth research done by Council and will be driven by extensive feedback from the community and other stakeholders.
