THERE has been lots of support for plans for Carlisle airport. Many readers commented, suggesting routes which they would like to see. Others felt it would be a great boost for the county and its economy, encouraging lots more people to come here. The businessman whose company has acquired Carlisle Lake District Airport says he aims to see scheduled passenger flights restarted by the summer. The Isle of Man-based company involved – Ettyl Limited – confirmed last month that it has signed agreements for the acquisition of Stobart Air and Carlisle Lake District Airport from Esken Limited, the aviation and energy infrastructure group.

People in Wymondham will be voting for their representatives on a town and county level on May 6.

Like the rest of Norfolk, residents of Wymondham and the surrounding areas will be voting for their preferred candidates to represent them at County Hall.
But these are not the only council seats up for grabs on May 6, as three spaces on Wymondham Town Council need to be filled.

In January, David Roberts and Jack Hornby stepped down in the North ward, while Wednesday Batchelor resigned, leaving a vacancy in the Central ward.
A NEW airline hopes it will be able to offer passengers flights at Carlisle Lake District Airport – and readers have shared their thoughts on the plans. Lakeland Airways is in the early stages of development, and chief executive and founder, Jon Davies, said the company hopes to offer flights to key cities within the UK and Ireland. It would then gradually expand further afield once fully established. And News & Star readers have branded the news fantastic , with many hoping the plans will go ahead.
