NEAR TEULON, MAN Livestock producers in the Interlake are calling for immediate help from the provincial and federal governments to deal with the extreme drought. Nearly 100 producers gathered for a rally west of Teulon Wednesday to bring attention to the issue. Orval Procter, a councillor for the R.M. of Woodlands and a beef producer, helped organize the rally. He said producers want financial assistance and more Crown land and Wildlife Management Areas opened for haying and grazing. “The hay and stuff, you don’t know where it’s going to come from,” Procter said. “Some of the land here hasn’t been hayed for 10 years. It may not be the best but every eight bales of hay can save a cow.”

Litmus Awarded CESMII Smart Manufacturing Project

Litmus, the Intelligent Edge Computing company, today announced the company has been awarded a contract from CESMII - The Smart Manufacturing Institute. CESMII issued a call for research and development projects to accelerate the adoption of Smart Manufacturing technologies and Litmus was chosen from a list of 28 RFP responses.
The Litmus project, titled, “Machine and Process Health Monitoring,” will connect Litmus Edge software to CNC machines at Bray International, a premier manufacturer of flow control and automation products and accessories. The project has three projected outcomes: create a smart manufacturing profile for a valve manufacturing CNC machine, expose KPIs to optimize Bray International maintenance routines, and expose KPIs to optimize Bray International machine uptime and part quality.
Amid all the technology supplier partnerships, a number of organizations focused on the modernization of industrial manufacturing also work closely together, such as the Industrial Internet Consortium and the Trusted IoT Alliance and the Open Industry 4.0 Alliance. Now comes news that Germany’s Industrie Plattform 4.0 and the U.S.’s CESMII are working together on the digital transformation of manufacturing.

CESMII is the United States’ national institute on Smart Manufacturing, driving cultural and technological transformation and secure industrial technologies as national imperatives; it is funded by Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Advanced Manufacturing Office.
