The Bradenton Beach Pier proposal includes construction of new finger docks to accommodate about 20 more boaters. The city will match the county s $850,000 investment for improvements not eligible for tourism funding, including potential lighting improvements, fishing tables, restroom and shower facility renovations, and a terminal area for the city s tram service.
The City of Anna Maria requested $500,000 to convert the former restaurant at the pier into a learning center operated by Mote Marine. The pier was destroyed by Hurricane Irma in 2017, and since then, the space was rebuilt to accommodate new tenants. The learning center will join a takeout-only restaurant and bait shop.

Bradenton Beach restaurants will soon start seeing strict enforcement of outdoor entertainment noise violations, which could affect their right to expanded outdoor dining that was granted by the city in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The city implemented the ordinance expanding open air dining at local businesses in 2020 to allow restaurants to operate during the COVID-19 emergency through seating of more patrons outdoors. On Thursday the city voted unanimously to extend the ordinance, with some changes.
Most of the conversation revolved around how to best address the additional noise created because of expanded outdoor dining. The city has not actively enforced it s live entertainment rules throughout the pandemic, and some businesses have started to allow their their music and entertainment to creep outdoors as well, against city policy, making music more audible in nearby neighborhoods.
