Two-vehicle fatal crash reported in Jackson County
OAK HILL The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle fatal crash that occurred on TR-327 near SR-279 in Jackson County at approximately 11:13 a.m. on Wednesday.
A 1999 Ford F250 was traveling north on TR-327 (Slab Hill Road). A 2005 Pontiac G6 was traveling south on TR-327 when it failed to yield half the roadway, striking the Ford F-250. The Pontiac driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Jackson County Coroner. The driver and passenger of the Ford F-250 sustained no injuries. The roadway was closed approximately two hours.
Agencies on scene were Madison-Jefferson Fire Department, Jackson County Emergency Medical Services, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Oak Hill Police Department, Jackson County Ohio Department of Transportation, Jackson County Highway Department and the Jackson County Coroner’s Office.

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (KFVS) - The death of an inmate housed in the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro is under investigation.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, corrections deputies found 34-year-old Kevin Widdows, of Carbondale, dead in cell on Tuesday, February 2.
The cause of death has not been released.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
The sheriff’s office said Widdows was the only inmate occupying the jail cell.
Illinois State Police and the Jackson County Coroner’s Office is investigating Widdows’ death.
South Bend man dies in I-65 crash in Jackson County
SEYMOUR, Ind. A South Bend man died in a one-vehicle crash at 9 a.m. Tuesday on I-65 near the 44 mile marker in Jackson County.
The initial investigation by Trooper Andrew Garrett, Indiana State Police-Versailles Crash Reconstruction Team, indicated that a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, being driven by William A. Dudek, 61, South Bend, was traveling northbound on I-65 near the 44 mile marker in southern Jackson County. For an unknown reason, Dudek’s vehicle drove off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then struck a guardrail and became airborne. The vehicle crossed all northbound lanes of I-65 and came to rest in the median, state police said.
