BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WALB) -Not a dry eye was in sight as many law enforcement officers and others continue to remember and honor the late Decatur County Sheriff’s Office’s Justin Bedwell.
Just over two months ago,
After his death, he was later promoted to Captain.
Southwest Georgia law enforcement officers and so many more are not letting his legacy of 20 years on the force be lost.
A ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with national police week.

DECATUR COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) â At the request of the Decatur County Sheriffâs Office, the funeral service for Captain Justin Bedwell will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Centennial Field with Rev. Stephen Webb and Rev. John Thomas officiating.
The funeral will start and end at the stadium. The burial will be private.
Sheriffs from the surrounding area will be in attendance.
Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing of six feet and/or wear protective masks in accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines.
