On Friday afternoon Air New Zealand put on five additional flights from New South Wales to Auckland between July 28 and August 7. They were sold out within a matter of minutes. Foran said flights from Victoria also sold out shortly after the announcement, but he reassured customers that airline staff would be working hard to get New Zealanders home before the seven-day window closed by adding more flights and flying its bigger 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, as well as its A320 aircraft, which have been doing most of its trans-Tasman flying.
