The Saber-Toothed Salmon, Ketchikan High School s five-member National Ocean Sciences Bowl team, is ready to participate in the virtual Tsunami Bowl later this month.
On March 10, which was designated as Kayhi s NOSB Day, the team spent several class periods presenting its research paper and accompanying presentation to peers, while engaging in a quiz-bowl style competition about topics ranging from marine biology to maritime history.
The team, coached by Keenan Sanderson with assistant coach Laura Sherill, includes five first-time competitors â sophomore Romel Del Mundo; juniors Kai Biagi, Kaydence Dyson, Ellie Pickrell; and senior Jolie Powers. For everybody being first year (participants) in the program, I m really blown away by everybody s ability to adapt to all the changes we ve had to deal (with), all the coronavirus stuff and everything being virtual this year, Sanderson told the Daily News during a break in NOSB Day.
