Partners in life and business, a local couple have joined forces and are using their respective talents to sell a range of products that are handmade with love.
When husband and wife Hysen and Maureen Sali started their well-deserved retirement, they quickly realised it wasn’t all it was cut out to be, so they both began looking to start a hobby.
“I’ve been sewing all my life and would sew for our girls when they were young and then we became empty nesters and decided to come to Bundaberg to retire,” Ms Sali said.

Subscriber only A Bundaberg creative has turned her love of craft and nature into a successful business, with new and exciting projects on the horizon. It all started when local business Nutty Creation owner Sue Snowdon was living interstate and started using natural materials to create sweet gifts and home goods. Originally I was making things out of gumnuts and leaves, so brooches, hairclips and notepads, which is where the name Nutty Creation came from, Ms Snowdon said. It was when I had children that I started making wide brim hats, because I couldn t find them anywhere else and when I returned to Queensland I came up with the idea of making little turtle hatchling toys.

Subscriber only Despite the forecast of cloudy skies and with rain expected to hit the region in the coming days, there was still a great turnout at the local Sunday markets. With all kinds of stalls on offer at Bargara s Paradise Markets, there was plenty to see and do. Featuring a range of arts and crafts, from handmade mini sea creatures and cat-shaped timber planter boxes, to terrariums, textiles and upcycled wine bottles, there was something for everyone to enjoy. 1. Stay Young Mother-of-two Geunyoung (Young) Muller, she has refused to let fear of failure get in the way of her dream, opening the doors to her beauty salon Stay Young less than four weeks ago. Working at other beauty salons in the past, the small business owner said she wanted to step out of her comfort zone and further test her skills and capability. Offering a selection of luxury packages, clients will feel pampered with relaxing facials, signature peels, therapeutic massages and exfoliation or rejuvenating body treatments.
