Syed Abul Maksud laid to rest

Eminent columnist, researcher, writer and journalist Syed Abul Maksud was laid to eternal rest at capital’s Azimpur graveyard after the Maghrib prayers on Wednesday.
Earlier, his third and final namaj-e-janaza was held at Dhaka University Central Mosque after Asr prayers while his second namaj-e-janaza was held on the National Press Club premises around 2:45pm.
A pall of gloom descended on the journalist community when the freezing van carrying his body entered the club around 2:15pm.
His friends, colleagues, journalists and their professional organisations, including National Press Club, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU), Dhaka Sub Editors’ Council (DSEC), Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), and Bangladesh Press Institute, among others, paid their last tribute to him there.
