Barbara Davis, a former corrections officer at the private Northeast Ohio Correctional Center off Hubbard Road in Youngstown, pleaded guilty Thursday to having sex with an inmate and taking bribes to bring contraband into the prison. She entered the pleas in U.S. District Court in Akron. Judge Sara Lioi ordered that Davis be released on $20,000 bond. Davis will be sentenced at 10 a.m. April 29. Federal court documents state that Davis engaged in sex with an unnamed inmate inside the prison between the dates of Nov. 13, 2017, and Nov 7, 2018. She also between those dates accepted a $20,550 bribe from an Ohio woman who also has been charged by the federal government in a related case. Davis was paid to sneak in a cellphone and tobacco to a prison inmate, federal prosecutors stated.
