. EAST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (Tribune News Service) When World War II veteran James Ingargiola went to the hospital in February and learned he had COVID-19, he didn t know if he could beat it. He called family members to say goodbye, but then realized that he wanted to fight. The 95-year-old Marine Corps veteran stayed at Brockton s Good Samaritan Medical Center for two weeks and then the Sachem Center for Health & Rehabilitation in town for about a month until he was fully recovered. I love this country so much, and can t imagine being born and raised anywhere else, Ingargiola said. It was a tremendous honor to serve, and my whole life I ve always tried to be a fighter and never give up on anything. This disease was no different.
