A fire broke out in the Media Cell of the Bilawal House on Friday and caused damage to precious articles and equipment at the property. Personnel of the city’s fire brigade had to strive hard for over an hour to extinguish the blaze. Luckily, no one was hurt.
The fire quickly engulfed the building of the Media Cell and damaged the record room and the press room. The staffers were timely evacuated. A new fire tender, purchased by the federally owned Sindh Infrastructure Development Company Ltd for Karachi, under a special development package of the federal government for the city, also took part in the firefighting operation. Reports said an electric short-circuit was the cause behind the incident.

PESHAWAR: A local court has directed a local journalist to submit a reply in a case in which the United States Embassy claimed diplomatic immunity in a damages suit filed by him.
The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Nasrullah Khan directed the counsel for the petitioner, Hashim Khan, to appear before the court on June 28 and argue about the issue of diplomatic immunity claimed by the US embassy.
The court was taking up the case filed by senior journalist, Mehmood Jan Babar, who had filed the damages suit, seeking $20 million damages for “subjecting him to humiliation, physical and mental torture and financial loss.”

PESHAWAR: A local court on Wednesday adjourned hearing in the damages suit against Prime Minister Imran Khan till June 23.
The lawyer for the prime minister submitted a reply in the court in the suit filed by former MPA Fauzia Bibi.
He said no member of the inquiry committee had been mentioned in the suit that had taken the decision against some MPAs. He asked the court to dismiss the suit.
Fauzia Bibi was a Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaf MPA from Chitral in the previous KP government. She had filed the damages suit against Prime Minister Imran Khan who as the PTI chairman had accused her of selling her vote for Rs40 million in the previous Senate election.
