The Cherry County Commissioners held a regular meeting on Tuesday, April 13th, 2021. Deanna Scott and Andrew Ward were appointed to the Hospital Board with one additional position remaining open at this time.
The board adopted a resolution opposing the 30 by 30 land preservation program by the federal government. The resolution states that approximately 10% of Cherry County land area is already owned by federal or state agencies, and the county had a natural resource and management plan for those federal and state managed lands. The board opposed the 30 by 30 program and further designation of public lands and national forests in Cherry County as wilderness study areas, wildlife preserves, open space or other conservation land.

The Cherry County Commissioners met for a regular meeting on Tuesday at the courthouse in Valentine. The board adopted a resolution for an interlocal agreement for Region 4 Behavioral Health Services and signed a letter of opposition to LB102 supporting Cherry County Clerk of District Court. LB102 would shift responsibility of district crout from counties to the state level.
In other business, the board moved the time of a scheduled agenda item for a conditional use permit for Danielksi Farms from 11am to 1:30pm on March 9th. This was changed due to a courtroom scheduling conflict.
The County continues to shift toward leaving the Region 24 Emergency Management agreement by adopting a resolution at Tuesday’s meeting. At a previous meeting, the board voted to officially leave the group and handle emergency preparedness with their own staff.

The Cherry County Commissioners will meet Monday, February 8th, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. CT in the Meeting Room at the Cherry County Courthouse at 365 N Main Street, Valentine, Nebraska for the purpose of conducting any and all county business that will come before the Board.
A Public Hearing in reference to CUP-004/20 Shane Daniels Amendment to Conservation Easement to be located in all or part of Sections 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23,and 24, Township 27N, Range 31W of the 6th PM will be held at 11:00 AM CT.
