A woman died Friday evening after she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a tree on Cherokee Road, according to Louisville Metro Police.
The woman was driving a car in the 1500 block of Cherokee Road at about 7:15 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle for some unknown reason, LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell said.
The woman, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, Mitchell said. There were no other passengers in the car.

Share Updated: 12:12 PM EDT May 8, 2021 WLKY Digital Team The woman killed in a crash near Cherokee Park on Friday has been identified by the coroner.According to Louisville Metro Police, Alexis Sabatino was driving on Cherokee Road near the traffic circle around 7 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, she lost control of the car and hit a tree on the side of the road.The 26-year-old died at the scene. Sabatino was the one person inside the car when it crashed.Officials say LMPD s traffic unit is handling the investigation.
