Military: 220 Bandits Killed, 642 Kidnapped Victims Rescued in North-west

Francis Sardauna in Katsina The Nigerian Army has said that troops of Operation Sahel Sanity have killed 220 bandits and rescued 642 kidnapped victims as part of efforts to restore peace and normalcy in communities hitherto captured by the hoodlums in the North-west. The troops also destroyed 197 bandits enclaves, including the notorious Katsina Dangote triangle and nabbed 335 suspected bandits, 326 illegal miners in Kebbi, Kaduna, Niger, Zamfara and Katsina States. The acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brig-General Benard Onyeuko, said yesterday at a press conference on the activities of the troops between July 1 and December 31, 2020 in Faskari, Katsina State, that 73 AK-47 rifles, one GPMG and 194 Dane guns were also captured from the bandits.

This was disclosed in a press briefing at Faskari Army Special Super Camp 4 yesterday, by the Acting Director Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko while giving general updates on the activities of the Operation Sahel Sanity since the commencement of it’s operations on the 6th of July 2020. General Onyeuko explains that, the troops have during the series of gun battle with armed bandits and other criminal elements across the zone, have recovered 73 AK 47 rifles, one GPMG and 194 Dane guns from the criminals.

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Special Army Super Camp IV in Faskari, Katsina State has given an update on the activities of Operation Sahel Sanity in combating the menace of armed banditry and other sundry crimes in the North West region since its commencement to date. The military said 73 KK47 rifles, one GPMG, 194 Dane guns, 5,032 rounds of 7.62mm, special ammunition, 568 rounds of 7.62 mm NATO ammunition and 156 live cartridges were recovered from bandits. Others he said include the destruction of 197 bandit camps and hideouts including the notorious Dangote Triangle and several bandit logistics bases which he said were equally destroyed in various operations in the year under review.
