Proximie lands $38M for tech that helps surgeons virtually join operations

Existing investors Global Ventures, BECO Capital and Cedar Mundi Ventures participated in the round along with new backers Questa Capital, Eight Roads and Maverick Ventures. WHAT THEY DO Proximie s technology-enabled platform uses augmented reality, machine learning and artificial intelligence to let clinicians remotely scrub in  to operating rooms to participate in and help guide procedures in real time. It also captures data from procedures to later be cataloged and analyzed with the hope of improving techniques and creating better patient outcomes.

Activ Surgical receives FDA clearance for surgical visualization tool

(Photo Credit: Activ Surgical)  Last week the FDA gave the green light to Boston-based Activ Surgical s intraoperative imaging module ActivSight, which is aimed at improving surgical visualization. The company has developed a technology that is able to give surgeons real-time intraoperative visual data. ActivSight is a small hardware-agnostic device that connects to an endoscope and a camera system. The system is able to augment installed visualization systems, and allows surgeons insights into the body, like real-time blood flow. The tool is expected to be incorporated into the company s second product, ActivInisghts, a software platform that that uses AI and machine learning to give surgical insights.
