Some of you in Union Township may have heard a Tornado Siren going off late last night. Ross County Sheriffs Deputies report they received several calls about the siren going off in the area of County Road 550 around 11:30 last night. There was no approaching storm, the siren simply malfunctioned. Engineers are working to fix the malfunctioning warning siren

As the summer approaches, the potential for severe weather conditions are brought into focus, the week of April 26th – April 30th 2021 has been Severe Summer Weather Awareness Week.
Severe summer storms can cause damaging winds, hail, tornadoes, wildfires, flash flooding, and more. This brings potential to cause serious property damage, injury, and even death.
On Wednesday April 28th at 11:15 am, there will be a test of the Tornado Siren in Valley City. Because the National Weather Service will not directly be involved with the exercise, the simulated warning will not be broadcast through the National Weather Service all-hazards weather radio system.
