(KOLD News 13) - Due to historically low ridership on holidays, transit service will be reduced on New Year’s Day. Transit services will be as follows on Friday, January 1, 2021: Sun Tran Routes 4, 8, 11, 12, 16, 18 & 21 will run on special holiday hourly schedules, as shown at www.suntran.com/holiday.php. All other Sun Tran routes will run on regular Sunday schedules. Sun Link streetcar will run regular Sunday service on New Year’s Day ending at 8 p.m. On New Year’s Eve, Sun Link will run regular weekday service, ending at 10 p.m.

Services affected by the Christmas holiday

City garbage and recycling The city of Tucson will not collect garbage and recycling Friday, Christmas Day. Services scheduled for Friday will be delayed a day as will the rest of the week’s collections. For information, call Environmental Services at 791-3171 or go to www.tucsonaz.gov/esd The Los Reales Landfill will be closed Friday. For landfill information, call 791-5151. County garbage and recycling As a precaution against the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the annual Christmas en el Barrio used a drive-thru style format to handout toys, gift cards and other items to children and families at the Tucson Rodeo Grounds, on Dec 18, 2020. At 9 a.m. when the event officially kicked off there were over 150 vehicles in line. Over a thousand were expected to come through by the end of the day. A limited number of volunteers, which added up to just under 50, were present from Nova Home Loans and other community supporters to help welcome vehicles and organize and distribute over $1,600

HARRISON, 76, who passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family in Roswell, NM. John was born on September 29, 1944, in Anadarko, OK, to David and Elsie Harrison. He served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic from 1965 – 1967. John met the love of his life, Barbara, in 1970 and they married on May 28, 1971. They raised two children together, Lisa and Daniel, in a modest home in Phoenix, AZ.
